Tips for Choosing an RV

If you are considering the purchase of an RV there are several factors to consider and a variety of options to choose from. You will want to think about cost, quality and your traveling needs.

Least expensive is the pop-up type of RV. It is easily towed, lightweight and has sleeping room for four. Some have only the bare necessities while others have a refrigerator, stove and toilet. You will have to deal with setting up and taking them down in any weather and they are hard to heat when it is cold. They are reasonably priced however and you can remove the camper, allowing you to use the truck by itself. Next in line is the trailer type RV. Ranging from a small 12-foot size all the way up to a large 33-foot model, you have a variety of RV choices. You will need a powerful tow vehicle which will add to the cost of purchasing this type of RV. The trailer RV gives you the most comfortable space for the dollar and works very well for those RV campers who plan to drive to a destination and stay there for a longer period of time. The "fifth wheel" RV offers terrific bedroom spaces and is fairly easy to tow. These RV’s can be difficult to back up and handle differently than
those using a trailer. Take one for a test drive and see how it handles. Now we move up to the motor coaches.

Motor Coach RV’s include many choices in price, size and amenities. Priced from $25,000-300,00 and up, you will want to take a look at the varied options. Also remember that besides the higher price tag you will want to consider lower miles per gallon. Considering soaring gas prices today this is becoming more of an important consideration. The motor takes up some of your living space so it may seem you have less actual room than you had planned on. The Class A motor coach is the largest RV and affords even full-timers a very comfortable place to live. If you are thinking about a Class B coach keep in mind that you will pay almost as much as a Class A RV and not have nearly as comfortable living arrangements. A Class C is available in different sizes and has better gas mileage. You won’t have as much room as the A or B motor coaches but most offer the same amenities without the extra living or storage space. There are so many things to consider when purchasing an RV. It is a good idea to take several for a test drive, take notes and compare. Also visit
online RV forums and post your questions for actual RV owners to response to. Then you will be able to make the best RV choice for you.
